Common agricultural policy within the context of negociations at the WTO

Abstract

One of the pillars of the European Union trade policy has been its intense and sustained participation in the multilateral negotiations at the World Trade Organization. Agricultural trade has been a particularly sensitive issue in these negotiations for the EU. Through this paper the key elements of the recent processes of Common Agricultural Policy reform and the state and results of WTO negotiations on agriculture within the Uruguay Round and the Doha Round are presented, with the final purpose to bring the linkages between them.

Sofía Boza, Universidad de Chile

Licenciada en Economía por la Universidad de Sevilla. Máster en Desarrollo Económico y Políticas Públicas y Doctora en Economía por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Su área de especialización es la política agraria. Actualmente se desempeña como académica en el Departamento de Economía Agraria y en el Instituto de Estudios Internacionales, ambos pertenecientes a la Universidad de Chile.
