Abstract

An analysis of the role of Latin America in the elaboration of a new world order requires an examination of the basic notes of the international system, as it was configured in the 1960s and early 1970s. The examination of the possible influence of a Latin American alliance in the redefinition of the world order requires the explanation of a presupposition; This presupposition is the result of an evaluation of the role that medium and small powers can play in the international system today. The hypothesis proposed in this work is inserted in the scope of this problem and tries to explore the permissive conditions that the interdependence of the world economy opens so that its participants, particularly the medium and small powers, can play an active role in a redefinition of the international system that is more favorable to them.
