¿Qué puede hacerse con el Informe Brandt?

Abstract

Since the mandate of the Brandt Commission, written in 1977, was to deal with North-South problems and not North problems, the Brandt Report was based on the double assumption of the general viability of the North economy and of the general adequacy of the internal economic policies of the North. However, the premises turned out to be wrong, so its proposals must be viewed not in the context of the international economic landscape - as perceived by Western capitals and members of the Brandt Commission in late 1979 - but in the context of the a crisis that is rapidly aggravating so far in 1980. Paying due attention to the extreme severity of global difficulties and the persistent worldwide dominance of conventional economic policy tools, this essay discusses the six most important groups of the proposals of the Report.
