Abstract

Nobody disputes today that Latin America is going through the worst crisis in the last fifty years. The origins of this crisis are both internal and external, but, in the opinion of many, its fundamental roots must be found in the violent disturbances registered at the international level, which anticipate very profound changes in this scenario and will create an acute climate of confusion and uncertainty. These notes are intended to explore the direction in which the transformations that are taking place on the international scene are heading in the long term and will refer to the scenarios in which the external relations of the countries of the region will probably develop during the next two decades, taking into account the state of international political relations as well as the prospects for the world economy and the capacity for regional coordination to face the crisis.
