Abstract

The great world changes that have occurred in the last decade, especially the augmentation of the multiple and simultaneous challenges of integration and globalization, have had an unprecedented economic, political and social impact. Social and political issues were initially relegated and today regain a central place in the debate and the world agenda. It is in this context in formation that this paper analyzes two of the pending subjects that register a large part of the integration processes and the new regionalisms: the democratic deficit and the very closely associated social deficit, focusing it in a context of multiple challenges and simultaneous and within the framework of other deficits since in reality most of these are intimately interdependent.
