The relations between Germany and Latin America, in the political sphere currently go through a stage of certain "indifference", in which there are no conflicts and no special closeness. The region is not among the priorities of German foreign policy, despite the efforts of several Latin American nations to improve ties with that country. The "Europeanization" of German relations with the region has weakened bilateral ties. This situation can only be reversed through a special effort by the elites of both parties, in order to take advantage of the opportunities that mutual relations open up.
