Abstract

When the terrorists attacked the Twin Towers they did not do so in silence or in the dark. They created the moment for the world to be aware of their action, to see with horror how after the first impact the second happened before the cameras already installed in the place and the gesture of stupor would emerge, at the same time, in the faces of people separated by thousands of miles. On September 11, the story was relocated to the scene of simultaneity. Neither language differences, nor different schedules, nor diverse cultures annulled the explosion of globality that meant the first terrorist act broadcasted live to the whole world. The record of the first opinions and comments showed that in those hours the reaction was the same: something big, frightening, unexpected had happened, without anyone being able to give precise explanations of its scope and of who was responsible.
