It is difficult to establish the main characteristics and specificities of the crisis that Latin America is facing and to formulate some proposals to get out of it. Even more so when these are expected to be encouraging. However, despite the current difficulties, we believe that Latin America has a destiny and that Chile will be able to perform better within the region than outside it. To do this, it is necessary to maintain an open policy towards globalization and take charge that these two processes do not work on their own, tackle the second wave of modernizations, generate functional economic institutions, solve the problem of poverty and social protection, face the problem of globalization together, strengthen integration organizations, form a military and political alliance and, finally, fight for a multipolar world.
