Abstract

Various stages and initiatives have characterized the physical integration processes between Chile and Argentina, showing a sustained tendency to clearly debate its foundations and scope, since the 1984 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. The adaptation of objectives and instruments, as well as the determination of clear priorities, it is strengthened by the agreements that led to the association of Chile with MERCOSUR in 1996. Important areas of potential common interest - such as investments in infrastructure, mining, lakes and shared water resources - are topics on an agenda that is currently developing and that requires a clear and stable political scenario.
