Abstract

Ten years after that in Bogor, Indonesia, Chile acceded to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), during the administration of President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, it is responsible for acting as host country. In accordance with the uses and customs of APEC, this implies directing the process and preparing a series of meetings of great importance at the level of Working Groups, Senior Officials (SOM), Ministers and, perhaps the best known, of Leaders of Member Economies. The Secretariat, based in Singapore, should continue to operate as the central support mechanism for the process, providing coordination, technical support and advice, managing information, system communications and projects financed with APEC funds. This article briefly explains a series of related concepts of APEC.
