Joaquín Fernández Leiva: first Chilean Constitutionalist internationally renowned

Abstract

The author presents us in biographical historical perspective at Joaquín Fernández de Leiva, one of the American representatives who participated in the drafting of the Constitution of Cadiz of 1812. As noted in the article, and from of the careful study of the records of the Cortes of Cadiz, his speech did not pass unnoticed; to the contrary it poured concepts, arguments and reasoning of relevance in the process of drafting the such founding letter, locating it without doubt as the first Chilean constitutionalist, being a contribution item for the Chilean constitutional history.
